On The Needles

Judy L has started a new Friday link up called On the Needles for our needle related projects.  This is going to be fun.  I can't wait to see what others are knitting, crocheting, weaving, etc.  You can see her projects and links to others on her post here.

I am going to show where I stand with my socks for the sock challenge.  I'm a little bit behind because my knitting time was spent working on the shawl for my daughter.  Now I'm back to my socks.  I usually only work on 1 pair at a time but right now I have 3 pair going.  At least I won't be bored.

These are my socks for April.  I'm using the pattern called Into the Green Socks, found on Ravelry.  I'm on round 70 and will work through round 111 before starting the toe decrease.  I think I'll pay attention to how long that takes me, just for the fun of it.

These are called Simple Skyp Socks, also found at Ravelry.  Gosh if you aren't a member of Ravelry, you are missing out on oodles of great stuff.  It's free to join.  I started these to work on when I'm the passenger so I don't suck all the air out of the vehicle.  But after 1 trip to town, I got myself all confused on the pattern and it's a super simple pattern.  I guess I am paying attention to what the driver is doing after all..........

So after that trip, I decided to take this pair of my basic just knit it socks for my car project.  I started them last month for date night here.  I am ready to start the heel flap on these today while I am the passenger again.  I can talk and knit and not watch freeway traffic all at the same time.

Don't forget to check out what others are working on by clicking here.  Great idea Judy L!

I love seeing knitted socks. The yarn makes each pair so different and pretty.

I love how the yarn in the last photo is striping. I can see that it is Knit Picks, but what is the colorway?

You'll have these three pair finished in no time.

I think we are sisters separated at birth. You know how we always seem to be knitting the same yarns? The one you have in the first picture is EXACTLY (color and all) what is on my needles right now! Only mine is a plain-Jane sock, no thinking required ... Except when I get to the heel turns. I have abandoned Cat Bourdhi's heel method and gone back to heel turns. They are not automatic for me yet... I still have to drag out the directions and count, but it is getting easier. I detest picking up stitches, but it is a necessary evil to get the look I want in a sock. Have a great trip, and get lots of knitting done!

I wonder if Judy L jumped off a bridge if we'd follow???? I love the patterns she chooses and I guess simple skyp is a real hit with all of us sock makers.

Your 3 pair are going great.

Judy L. may do something crazy but I doubt she'd be jumping off a bridge 'cuz you know how she feels about those bridges! :)

Love your socks. Your knitting looks so neat. Those self striping yarns you're using from Knit Picks are so pretty. Like you, I cannot follow a pattern if there's anyone to talk to or anything to look at and that's why I end up making so many plain socks but heck . . when you're wearing them . . who cares if they're plain or fancy?

Do you knit your socks on that plastic sock form? I am new to knitting (knitted my first pair) thanks to Judy L. ;)She said if you really want to do something...just do it. No excuses just try. I was just wondering

Great socks! I went and checked out that Into the Green pattern and printed it out. I love lacy socks and I love self-striping yarns and you have some gorgeous ones!
