Design Wall Monday

OhMyGoodness, how did Monday get here so fast!
I'm continuing to sew every day.
Whether it's string blocks or hand piecing.
This is the center hexi for Rosette 9 of Millefiore.
Her name is Judy.
I call her the Center of Attention.
I'm still thinking of replacing the center with an orange hexi.
snicker, snicker

This is round 1.
With six different fabrics,
it took me a bit of time to figure out which layout I liked best.
I think I changed it 9 different times.
And I haven't started sewing it together yet,
so I could change my mind 9 more times.

I bought a Moda Scrap Bag from somewhere.
It was perfect for this rosette.

I spent quite a bit of sewing time this week joining my rosettes.
I cannot begin to say how excited I am with this.
Once I add rosette 9 and join rosettes 5 and 2,
I'll have a better idea for color balance in the bottom of the quilt.
This has been such a fun, fun project.

Sometimes I have to earn Good Wife points.
Mending is at the bottom of the fun list but
some things have to be done.
To replace this rain-wear is expensive.
The elastic suspenders have stretched out beyond their usefulness.
The last time he wore them,
I had to pin the elastic up.

So I bought a pair of suspenders for the good elastic
and replaced them.
I should get extra Good Wife points for this.
The suspenders were wider than the elastic on the pants
and I needed to use the buckle.
So I fought with it and won.
Function or fashion.

On The Needles

I'm making a bit of progress on the In Love With Color Throw. There are 2 hexies in each colorway and 7 sets. I have the last color to put on the center pair and then start set number 7. I don't even know what part comes next in the instructions. I did read them through at the beginning but promptly forgot everything.

Did I tell you that I injured my knee at retreat? I did-not too serious but I'm doing lots of sitting, elevating and icing. I thought for sure I would get lots done on these but my mind just isn't focused enough so I've spent time reading instead.

Have you read One Second After?  OMG, it is so good and thought provoking! It's one of those keep you awake thinking books if you read it at night so I'm reading it during the day. I need to sleep!

I did spend time with my Binding Friends group this week so I finished another dishcloth. I think this one is #6. There might be enough yarn in there for 50 more. Seriously!  I think the keeping track is half the fun of these.

See what everyone is working on at Patchwork Times.

My New Book

It's dangerous for me to buy a new book. Especially a cookbook or in this case the Ball's Complete Book of Home Preserving.

It all started here at Chickens in the Road where Suzanne writes about strawberry lemonade concentrate. I followed the link to the book and in half a heartbeat that book was ordered. It came yesterday and I started looking at pictures.

This morning while being quiet so someone could sleep in, I started reading. I found the strawberry lemonade concentrate on page 192. I marked recipes for ketchups and relishes. I found a recipe for carrot cake jam.....oh my, I think I am going to be busy!

I just looked at the copyright date--2006.....How did I miss this??? No longer matters. I have lots of pages marked, a list made and have lots of ambition. The list for the garden just got longer.

Life is good here on the farm. Speaking of the good life on the farm, we are getting bees in a couple weeks. Ernie is out right now making a nice home for the hives. I better get out there with the camera and the gloves and be a helper bee. More on this later.

Now go order your own book and make your list. :0)
