On The Needles

I'm knitting again. Not much, just a little at night. Lillian-pattern at Ravelry-has come out for some attention. 

This will be the final color section, then one more black section before the crochet edging.  The color runs are quite long in this yarn. I'll have enough for another cowl.

Greta is finished!

Except for the blocking,

which will happen today if all goes well.

The ends are even buried.

I also finished Lillian --shown here

but haven't taken a picture of it or blocked it yet.

On to the next big project.

By special request, it will be Lady Kina.

I'll use Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Superwash

in Indigo Heather.

I'm excited about it.

I also pulled out a skein of  purple Opal yarn 

to make Mock Croc Socks.

I saw a crochet cardigan in this week's Joann's flyer that I am excited about.

(Note to JA, when you show a knit or crochet project in your flyer, 

be considerate and at least tell us the name of it. 

But nice work on your part,

 I searched your free projects page for a long time before I found it.)

I'll finish up another already started project or 2 before I pull stash yarn for this one.

and the search was on.

Each of his designs has a family back story.

How's that progress for not going to start anything new until Greta is finished?

The good part is that the yarn came from my stash.

I'm using Felici Sport Yarn from Knit Picks.

Great progress was made on Greta.

I vowed to knit at least an inch every day and so far, so good.

I have several shows that I record, 

so each morning I watch one or two and knit on Greta.

On The Needles

I'm working on using it up......the bits of yarn left from other projects.  This hat is made using leftover wool from this pair of slippers and these gray socks. If there are any bits left over, maybe I'll get brave enough to just drop them in the garbage.  Or maybe not.

The Honey Cowl is finished.  This is Project 1 for Sticks 'n Strings 2013.  I don't have 13 unfinished knitting projects but I have a few.  I'm going to do like Denise and finish an already started project before I can start a new one.  So the hat is my new project.  When that is finished, I have 3 scarves to choose from. Also on my list of 2013 Knitting Projects is a vest for Ernie and a sweater for me.  I'd like to get the scarves finished before I tackle either of these. I see a couple new hats being made before the vest, that thing is making me nervous!

On The Needles

This week I sat down and finished my 12th pair of socks for the 12 in 2012 Challenge.  You can see my post with all the socks in a collage here. Now I am working on the Honey Cowl that I started last week.

Denise at Justquiltin has a new challenge. It's called Sticks 'n Strings - 2013.  I don't have 13 knitting UFOs-thank goodness for that!-but I have a few and I have a few projects I want start and finish in the new year so that is how my list is going to be made.  I think this is going to be fun.

I just realized I don't have a pair of socks on the needles.  The first time all year!  I need to fix that soon. See other great On The Needle projects at Patchwork Times.

On The Needles

The 12 in 2012 Sock Challenge is nearly over.  I decided to make a pair of short socks for my 12th pair and showed them here. That night, I sat down and finished the first sock.  Then I tried it on and it was a bit too small.  I promptly put it back in the bag and ignored it.

I ignored it until 2 days ago when Denise posted about her 20 pair in 2012!  You know that lit a fire under me so I went in and un-kitchenered the toe--oh yeah, that was fun!--and pulled out several rows and tied on more yarn.  Now I am working the toe decrease again and am anxious to start the second sock so I can say I completed the 12 in 2012 Challenge. (If you follow that link, you can see all of Denise's fabulous socks.) 

During my pouty time over the socks, I decided to start this Honey Cowl using this bulky Jiffy yarn that was in my stash.  This is an easy pattern to kit.  I'm using size 10 needles, the short version of the pattern and cast on a few more stitches.

The cowl will be set aside until the 12th pair of socks is finished.
