Design Wall Monday

I'm delighted to say as soon as the outer section is sewn to the compass on the left, I will be caught up with BOM-QA.  Until Thursday when the next block is chosen.  Pretty big difference from last DWM post.  I need 1 more big compass and 5 small ones, plus there is a border of half square triangles that I have ready to sew.  I am using Triangulations to paper piece them.  The fabric is cut and the correct sized triangle pages are printed.  (Last week I was going to sew them at my Wednesday group and was showing the gals how great it is that the info is printed right onto the papers.  Well guess who printed off quarter square triangles instead of HSTs?  Yeah, that would be me.  At least I caught it before I had them sewn and cut.)

And just to show off a whole lot of cuteness.  This is Corbin with his Aviatrix hat that finally fits him.  Isn't he adorable?  If you are looking for a multisized, quick, fairly simple hat, this is a great one.  I did finish crocheting a little blanket and knitted a cute little hat for newest granddaughter that has yet to make her appearance.  I was excited to get it finished before she arrived.  OK little one, I'm ready for you to meet us.

It's Monday so that means I get some awesome time in Blogland.  Head over to Judy L's to see her awesome quilt and then visit others to see what's happening around town.

The tears have dried.

The block is finished.

It needs a good pressing but that will happen 

when the blocks are all made and the assembly is about to begin.

This is going to be a fabulous quilt!

I have 1 more block to complete before the end of the month. 

It's another big one.

I can do it.

Excuse Me While I Cry

I'd finished sewing all 8 sections of the star that I've been working on--see this post.

This block printed 2 sections per page.  1 section didn't fully print the top seam allowance.  I had drawn the cutting line on 3 sections but not the 4th.  Guess who should have done that!  I had trimmed 4 sections before I did this.....oh boy!

So now I will tape my paper back together, tape the seam lines, unsew several of those pieces, cut new pieces and resew this section.  After I cry..........

Speaking of tape---you know Carol Doak recommends the Soctch Removable Magic Tape to tape your papers with.  For some reason it is kind of hard to find around here and I was getting low.  So yesterday I ordered some from Staples. I also ordered a super cute pink high heel to hold the tape, I needed some ink pens and a few other things and if you order more than $45, you get free shipping.  So I did.  Thank goodness I did that.  Who knows how much tape I'm going to use to tape up this whoopsie!

Oh and Staples---you rock.  I ordered yesterday morning and this morning, the UPS man handed me my complete order.  WOW.

I'm done crying now.  Guess I'll have some lunch and get back to it.  I'd like to have the block finished today.

Design Wall Monday

 I actually have something up on my design wall.  I am embarrassed to say that these are the only blocks that I have made for our BOM-Quiltaddicts group.  The new project started last September.  As of Thursday, I only had the top right block finished.

Thursday morning, I got out my book and cd and printed off all the papers I needed for the blocks.  Then I set myself up at the cutting table and got to work!  I have all my blocks kitted up and 2 of the 5 sewn.

I'm not making the quilt on the cover, the one I'm doing is called Bahama Breeze--you can see it here.

I'm getting ready for Monday in Blogland.  Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times and Quiltville is showing off thimbles.

Design Wall Monday

I have a lot on my wall today. On the right is the Sunset At Sea wall hanging that is patiently waiting to be quilted.

In the middle is my UFO table topper. The left side border is almost all paper pieced and ready to put up on the wall. Then I will do the 8 corner blocks. I'm still not sure about the inner border. I have a couple other pieces to put up and look at for a while.

Then on the left side of the wall on top is clue 1 to Carol Doak's Twisted Mystery. Below that is September's BOM for BOM-QA group and below that is the poor little block rejected block that has yet to be put in the orphan block bin.

The rain has set in here for a few days so I am planning an in the house away from the kitchen retreat. That is after I process that last canner of tomatoes that didn't get done yesterday. And after I check in at Judy L's and spend some time seeing what my friends in Blogland have on their walls.

It's A Finished Quilt Top!

And isn't it great??? I'm very happy with this quilt top. When I wrote my DWM post , I didn't think I would get this done until Thursday. But a few minutes here and there really makes a big difference in my progress. These are our 2020/11 BOM-QuiltAddicts blocks. I'm excited that they are used and not sitting around waiting for me to do something with them.

I wanted to put another white border around but I don't have anymore. I ran out of the original white and used another for sashing, inner border, white stars and spacer. I've decided it's done the way it is. I'll use the remaining colors for a scrappy binding.

This will be quilted soon as the new grandbaby is due to arrive in a few weeks. Everyone is saying girl but no one knows for sure (or they aren't sharing that news). Either way this quilt will live at Crystal's house and be used and loved by all.

And if baby is a boy, this Gramma will be working like a crazed woman to get him his very own quilt. Or maybe I'll start on it next....

Design Wall Monday

I had big plans yesterday. I was going to turn this into a quilt top. I was up at 5:30, the house was all quiet, I went in to sew. After a couple hours, Ernie got up, took the dogs for their car ride, came home with special coffee for mom and settled in to read the paper. I went back in to sew for a couple more hours. More stars were made, while sashing is the leader/ender. I'm on a roll!

Then it ended! Ernie saw deer outside, wanted pictures, I exited the sewing room never to return until late last night when I took this photo. I made some chocolate zucchini cupcakes. While they were baking, I loaded up the dehydrator with zuke slices for chips. When that mess was cleaned up, I created another. I cleaned out a couple cupboards! After putzing around for a while, it was time to go to friend's for a BBQ.

Today is my day! So I say now, because the Mr. is home and you all know that means my plans change without notice. I'm thinking Thursday will be my day, after the bus leaves with grandson Jonah and before Ernie comes home from work!

Design Wall Monday

It's fun to have a loaded up design wall. I am loving the new bow tie leader/ender project. I've decided not to use cheddar and use from my over flowing bin of 2 1/2" background squares.

Next up is the last l/e project, Trees Left Standing that I started here using up some of the 1" bonus triangles. When I put the red strip on the wall and looked at it for a while, I knew it had to be lots thinner. So I decided I like it showing 3/4" and the outer border will be 2 or 2 1/2" wide.

On the right are my 2010/11 completed blocks for BOM-Quilt Addicts Yahoo group. That's right, I said completed! Before the newest project starts! OK, so just the blocks are completed but I feel good about that. :0) Now I am going to cut up the remaining fabric from the fat quarter pack into 2 1/2" strips to make up stars for the border and scrappy binding. I'd better make the binding first though......... And I think I will rearrange some of the blocks and maybe replace the brown and orange one. (afternoon edit--The orange and brown block has been replaced with a pink and blue block and looks so much better. )
