My design wall is empty. Sad but true. I haven't done much quilting the last few days. I've been playing with these.
One day while blog hopping, I ran across this post at Jo's Country Junction. I bought a bag full of bindings at one of the quilter's sales that I think the lady must have steamed and pounded the crease in. I can't get it out so I put it away knowing that one day I would use them for making a corded bowl or something. And I have lots of cording. My something is a small rug for beside my bed.
I set up my 401A and started covering the cord. I wasn't going to sew the rounds on the 401A but had to try it. She sewed through that thick cord like a hot knife through butter. I love that girl!
I started making my rug oval like Jo did but it was all wonky. So I ripped it apart and started over with a round rug. My advise is to not rip. What a mess of strings and thread! This is where I left off. I have more binding strips and more cord. I'm not sure how big I will make this and probably won't know for a while. When my dad asked why I was making a rug, my answer was "So I can say I did." "Good enough!" he says.

Judy D in Washington, this is Judy D in Arizona! I just have to become a follower too! I recently became hooked on wrapping clothesline too, and making mats both round and oblong. Love your scrappy mat! I've cut up a bunch of my scrap strips but have not yet put them in a mat. Your post is inspiring me to get to it! Thanks!
love it and I love rugs. I have crochets, knitted but never made one like that. How cool. A must do this winter.
What a great way to use up all those binding pieces. This looks like fun despite your ripping session :)
I made a little table mat/trivet last fall with leftovers and clothesline-I love it. It's always fun to do something different for a little change in the routine!
My first view of your cording and all made me think of sewing machine intestines gone missing... But the end result looks neat! Nevre tried it myself, so I'll be watching you!
I just love your rug. I've thought about making a braided one, but I wouldn't want to let anyone walk on something that took so much work.
That rug is going to look great, no matter what its size!
