I Like Thursdays #25

How did I forget today is Thursday.
I like Thursdays!!
Sometimes I forget what day of the week it is.
The pitfall of retirement?

This has been a strange week.
I didn't take hardly any pictures.
We went to Longview to buy an automatic gate opener for our driveway gate
and I convinced Ernie to take me to Longview Sewing to look at new machines
and buy some fabric.
The machines were all not what I want.
I don't need fancy so we came home and I sewed on my trusty machine.
I like my Brother PQ1500SL.

When I got out of the truck,
this fella was skooching across the driveway.
I love those things.
I can never remember if the wide orange stripe means a mild or harsh winter.
We call them Fuzzy Wuzzies.

One day I cut batting for 4 quilts.
I also made backs for 2 of them,
the other 2 I have wide backs for already.
I love those things.
But I also like a pieced backing.

I like learning new things.
But my Brother 1500 does not like using the ruler foot.
No matter how much adjusting and knit pickity picking I do,
He Does Not Like That Foot!

So I put the darning foot on and we were both happier.
Although I wanted to do ruler work,
I'm happy that it's being quilted.
In the end, it's my quilt and I love it.

One of these days,
I'll get out another machine and try the ruler foot on it.
I'm not giving up.

I am with you...I don't need all the bells and whistles on the newer machines.

I finally bought some wide backing fabric yardage and I like it! It will make basting go so much faster. Your quilt projects look wonderful!

When I had to replace my sewing machine, I picked one even older than it was! I like old sewing machines the best. Make it stitch. I don't want a computer on it. :-) I have not tried ruler quilting yet - it's on my bucket list. Your quilting looks lovely!

I chose a less fancy machine too—I mostly wanted a bigger harp size and am happy to have it. You’re perking along with getting those tops to turn into quilts. Maybe that’s the chrysalis stage in your sewing room, lol

I'm interested to hear your machine doesn't like the ruler foot. I've thought about trying to get one and learn to do ruler work on my domestic machine but never bit the bullet. Your quilts are lovely though, I love all those big stars and hexies. I saw a fair number of caterpillers and millipedes and worms on my hike last weekend but I've never seen one like your fuzzy wuzzy! So cool! Do they turn into pretty moths or butterflies?

I had to go look up this ruler foot thingy. It does look like a fun way to keep freemotion quilting in a more uniform design. It also looks like something I’d like to give a try at. Finishing quilts is exactly what I’m working on right now. I don’t like UFOs. I don’t know how it happened that I ended up with 3. I finished one and I’m binding a second...one more to finish. Can’t wait until I don’t care what day of the week it is too! LOL
