Design Wall Monday

Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville has been a huge influence on my quilting life.  I love scrappy and I am loving doing Bonnie's quilts with small pieces.  When her newest book, String Fling arrived in my mailbox and I opened the book, Pineapple Crazy was the page I opened to!  It was meant to be!

I remember her posting about her little pineapple blocks a few years ago. I knew then I wanted to make these blocks!  After searching her blog, I found this post and  this post.   I sure there are more.

Pineapple Crazy has begun!  I don't know if you can see it or not but at the top of the blocks, I wrote how many to make and beside it is the number I am working on.  And the one corner with the 2 pink lines, that is so I know to make that a dark corner.

I started doing just 2 blocks but I don't work like that so now I am working on 5 and will probably go up to working on 10 at a time.  Each will have a red center.  After working on this far, I remembered Bonnie had written an errata for this block.  The numbers are wonky so I will just go with what I know about paper piecing instead of following the numbers.  No big deal at all.

2 done, 222 to go.  That doesn't scare me one bit.  I love these blocks.  I love taking itty bitty crumbs of fabric and making something fabulous.

I am working out of these 2 little baskets right now.  I think I will have to get a bigger basket for the creams but the colors are just fine.  It's amazing how much I can cram into that little basket.  These are just trimmings from my latest fabric cutting sprees.  I have boxes, bags and bins of scraps and crumbs.  I can't wait to see if this project makes a dent in those.

See what others have on their design walls this week by visiting Judy L at Patchwork Times. I love Monday in Blogland!

How beautiful and............how teeny, tiny! You're not going to make much of a dent in your scraps!

Love these blocks and know it is something I will never do.

From a pile of crumple to a beautiful quilt! What more could a scrapper girl want? 222 more doesn't scare you but it sure made me glad it isn't me stitching those. Hmmm...so you love scrappy... :-)

Good start, Judy! I think I'd end up with a table topper...but, that 222 is doable in bites at a time, right?

Judy, that quilt is going to be fabulous with all the possibilities. You're off to a good start. Can't wait to see more. BTW, what size is each block???

I love pineapple blocks, I love paper piecing and that it a quilt for me. I also have a pineapple ruler that I like using, too. Hmm, I need to start making one of these blocks as a l/e quilt. I haven't done one with the corners being the light colors. Very nice. I like Bonnies quilts and have made several.

those are beautiful! I got mine in the mail before I left and this is one that really caught my eye as well. What a great way to use up those scraps! That is going to be one stunning quilt.

Beautiful pineapples. I'd love to do some, but maybe not quite that small. Maybe 7 inches rather than 5........ someday.......

I love your pineapple blocks, and have started one years ago. One day I will finish it. It doesn't use up my scraps fast enough, but I too like making something from nothing and getting a beautiful quilt. You go girl.!

only a quilter says a statement like 2 down - 222 to go and doesn't bat an eye!! Love these and hats off for you doing them!

Yowza, that is a small block! But great for you that it is giving you so much enjoyment working on these complex shapes appearing so magically with just scraps and crumbs! Too intense for me but I'm cheering you on :)

The boxes you are working from look like mine. I have LOTS of colored fabric but not so many lights. I am loving working on mine too!!
