Goodwill Shopping and A Giveaway

I love shopping at Goodwill. This morning was a good shopping day. Among my purchases was a bag full of 15! almost full cones of serger thread and this partially finished dresser scarf (I'm assuming) with 3 balls of crochet thread and a size 5 hook (the giveaway).

After putting the bag in my basket, I made a quick phone call to ask Crystal if she wanted the thread and of course she did. There was no price on the bag and I tried to get it for $3 but after the price check, I paid $7. Still 15 cones of thread for $7, thank you to who ever cleaned out their sewing room!!!

Now for the giveaway, if you can figure out a crochet pattern by looking at what was already done and would like to have the partially finished dresser scarf, thread and hook, please leave a comment. Be sure I can contact you. If there is more than 1 comment, I guess I will have to pick a winner on Thursday, March 10th.

I don't know the crochet pattern, in fact, I don't crochet, but I love it. My great grandmothers and great aunts crocheted some of the most beautiful things. I have a tablecloth crocheted by my great grandmother and lot's of doiles and dresser and table scarfs. Somewhere down the line in years past, there was a dresser scarf like the one you are showing, in my family. Sorry I can't be of more help, seeing your picture brought the memories tumbling back to me. :) Great deal on the thread.

Looking at the scarf makes you wonder what happened to the person who was crocheting it. She just wouldn't have thrown it away with that much beautiful work done. So sad. I would love the opportunity to complete it.
P.S. I love Goodwill too. But I don't see much sewing or craft items at any of mine.

I have a similar doily granny made me, but I have no idea what the pattern is nor can I crochet, but I sure love seeing what people find at Goodwill.

Well, by looking at the picture, it looks like the crocheter just made a circle with chains and joined to some of the outside stitches. I would love to look at this closer and see or try to figure this out. I too wonder what happened to the person that started this. She was definitely a good crocheter...

What lovely doilies in the dresser scarf- I did crochet once upon a time but I have no idea what this one is- I think they would look beautiful as center pieces in a quilt block.
You sure found some great finds at Goodwill. Thanks for sharing your great buys.
Warmest regards,
Anna
