Slow Stitching Sunday

I am sooooo close to being finished with the hexi flowers! I have 1 more full flower and 2 more half flowers. Then the real fun begins! I'm going to have Mae come over and we will decide on a lay out. And then I will explain how these all have to be sewn together. And I will explain that it will still take a long time.

Remember this sweet child wants this before she turns 7 because that is a long time to wait for a quilt. She turned 6 twelve days ago.  I started this quilt in August and right after was ordered to rest my knee for 6-8 weeks. I spent some quality time with the needle, thread, fabric, ice bag and recliner. I became obsessed with these hexies. I still am.

My wish for 2014 is to see Mae's Flower Garden wrapped around Mae before she turns 7. I can do it!

I am linking up to Kathy's Quilts: Last Slow Sunday Stitching for 2013. I am so looking forward to Slow Stitching 2014!!

Love the traditional colors and layout of your hexie quilt. What a wonderful 7th birthday quilt! Looking froward to seeing your progress!

The green in your flower garden path is just perfect. I hope Mae gets her quilt before her birthday -- and that she appreciates all that went into creating it.

I just feel it my old bones that Mae is going to get her quilt on time. It is BEAUTIFUL. I will be anxious to hear how you finish it up, because I am sitting here with my grandmother’s 100 year old top - without the half flower hexies around the perimeter- not knowing what to do to finish it off. Do I rip...do I add on... I am open to any and all suggestions. I just do not want to ruin it. I love the prints you have used in Mae’s quilt. She is going to LOVE, LOVE LOVE it. Can’t wait to see the finished beauty. Happy New Year. Genie

You can do it!!! I think there will be a lucky seven year old. My grandma made a quilt almost exactly like that with the green paths. She always used lots of green in her quilts.

You sure can do it! A few weeks of slow stitching the pathways together and "Bob's your uncle"!!

Sending you wishes for a happy 2014!

I too am obsessed with hexies! Only because I've been working on this Storm at Sea for so long do I keep persevering on it ... That, and I really do love hand quilting.

I can't wait to see your finished quilt ... Or I should say to see Mae's quilt. ;-)
