Design Wall Monday On Sunday

I've been quilting Pineapple Blossom #2. I have this last pineapple section and then the 10" of borders. Hopefully Monday morning will see this beauty complete.  I'm freehand quilting swirls because of the swirl fabric using a nice light sage green thread.

On the design wall is my Bow Tie center. I am thinking about borders.  That's all I've been doing is thinking, not even pulling fabrics because I don't know what colors I want to use. What do you think?  I want a 2" inner border and a 4" outer border. This will go into my need a gift quilt bin.

I'll be spending Monday morning looking at other design walls that have linked up to Patchwork Times.

Great work on pineapple blossoms. Almost there. I think the bowties have lots of blue in them. Blue is also a popular favorite color if there is not a recipient in mind yet.

WOW, busy lady you! I love what I see in both your works in progress. I don't have a suggestion for borders on the Bow Tie, but I do want to know how I can get myself on your list of need a gift for! lol Happy quilting today!

I'd use a thin black frame (1 to 1.5 inch finished) around the bow ties and then a red or blue border.

I like the idea of red or more likely blue border. I would even consider a really dark navy in a smaller size and a larger border of a go with blue. Anything from bright to dull. But, the best way to figure it out is audition various fabrics. Generally one speaks to me more than others when I do that.

Nice job on both quilts. I had to really look at the pineapple blossom to realize that is what it was!

This is going to sound so weird, but if you would like a "zinger" border, use a tiny lime border. It will make the other lime fabrics pop and make it so cheerful. Then I think perhaps a blue of some sort for the outer border. Love both the pineapple & bow tie quilts!

Love your pineapple blossom! And the bowties look great. I think you have enough opinions to look over so I won't add mine!

Both your wall and frame look wonderful. As for borders, I like bright and noticeable stop borders and frequently use the same fabric/color for the binding. I also like tone on tone and/or plain outer borders if I want to quilt something pretty on them. Otherwise, I really like piano key borders, to continue the scrappy look.
