Design Wall Monday

On my wall today is part of my Orca Bay Mystery.  I carefully~or so I thought~sewed all my blocks into rows, 5 row As, 4 rows each of B, C, and D.  As I'm sewing my rows together and carefully pressing, I see row 10 has one little blue string block going the wrong direction.

Up on the wall rows 1-10 go and the inspection began.  Thank goodness that was the only block out of whack. Now rows 11 and 12 are pinned together waiting for my return to the sewing room.  After rows 11-17 are sewn together, the whole top will be joined and then borders...........oh the excitement.

I haven't sewn since Friday.  My weekend was full of grand kiddos and organizing.  Saturday we had 3 kiddos here for part of the day and Sunday I tackled my bedroom.  Now I have an organized closet and organized dressers and lots less stuff.  The first stop on the next trip to town will be Goodwill.

I'm betting there will be a bunch of Orca Bay goodness in Blogland today........I'm going to spend some time finding out.  Go to Judy L's and see what she has going on and then check out other exciting design walls.  I love Mondays.

Great quilt! I'm going to have to print out the instructions for Orca Bay because I've loved every one I've seen posted. I'm relieved you only had to fix one block.

You have sharp eyes to find that misdirected blue string block! I, too, had to keep checking to be sure that I had those blocks turned the right way.

Now that the OB rush is over, what are we going to work on?

I just love yours Judy. I'm late to the party, but I've started making a few blocks. You always have something wonderful on your design wall Monday to come over and see.

I love your OB. I used too dark on fabric for the blue and mine doesn't POP as nicely...I still like mine..but, if I could change it I would.

Your Orca Bay is beautiful. I'm in awe how there are so many of these beautiful quilts finished or almost finished.

Glad you found that block before it was too late. You're making great progress on Orca Bay and getting lots of other things done too.

Wow, Judy, I wouldn't have seen the wrong-way block until the whole quilt was done...good for you! This is going to be one great quilt!

It is coming together well. Nothing like a good photo to point out any little mistakes! Glad you caught it now.

I love your Orca Bay! I've used the photo trick. It never fails that I have a block the wrong way and I've sewed rows before realizing it. ugh

Looking great! It does seem to take a lot of concentration to get all the strings facing in the right direction. Well worth it in the end though. Enjoy your new years inspired organization fest. I'm having one of those myself. Have to love the start of a new year.
