Scrap Sorting

Today I spent the day sorting some of my scraps.  In my continuing quest to become organized (will it ever really happen??), I bought a bunch of bins yesterday that I intended to use just for scrap sorting.  The blue tub was stuffed full of scraps and chunks of fabric.  So Taylor and I layed out all the bins, turned on a movie and got busy.  When the bin was empty, she quit on me.  This was a big job.  The movie wasn't over so I went in and got more.  I had a bunch of bags from April 2010 that I hadn't sorted yet so I grabbed those and a big box and kept on working.

After a while, I had full bins of scraps all sorted out by color.  What will I do with them???  Right now they are still stacked in the living room in front of the couch.  Tomorrow, I'll figure out which shelf needs to be cleared off so these bins will have a home.   I bet there will be a new book coming out pretty soon that will help me decide what to make with some of them.  I sure wish I would have done this project before the Orca Bay mystery started.....but I didn't!

Looks like you made great progress on your scraps today. They didn't all spring up overnight, so there is no reason to think they need to get taken care of right away. Why not one color a month? Sort, trim and sew. It looks like lots of beautiful quilts are lurking in those bins.

That's a big organizational task completed and you are starting 2012 all sorted out!

That job is on my New Year's to-do list. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not.

Good job, Judy! I wouldn't dare get out all of my scraps to sort that way. They look so nice sorted by color though. How small of scraps are not in there?

I need to make string quilts with some of my scraps! The drawers in my storage bins are so full I can't get any more in there. This is even after I pulled everything out that I could for Orca Bay. I thought I would only have to live to be 125 to use up all the fabric I have. Maybe it will have to be 130. Eeek.

Oh good for you getting that stuff all organized-a feat in itself. I love to organize, and re-organize.
Have a Happy New year, Judy. I'm so looking forward to what 2012 for us in blogland.

Goodness me! You must be the scrap queen! Those bins look wonderful all sorted out by colors. I'm sure there must be a couple of new pillows in there.
