Tuesday Knitting Report

Yes, I know it isn't Tuesday any more, I can't even come up with a good excuse for not posting yesterday. :0)

Remember (here) when I was so excited about my sweater? And then a week later when I was heart sick because it was so ginormous?

Well here it is now! I am in the process of un-knitting it and it is almost making me sick to my stomach! But that darn thing was starting to nag at me. So I am going to finish un-knitting the sweater and turn it into a scarf or two or twelve!

Good news to report though, my socks are finished! Even after that darn Mr. Tony dog tried to un-knit one of them for me. I only had a couple rows left to do and had to take a quick break.

When I came out of the bathroom, I saw a line of pink yarn. I followed it and found my sock with only one needle in it and no dog to be found. I had a melt down! A temper tantrum like I haven't had in a long time! That darn dog is 2 1/2 years old! He is too old to be packing my things off just to get attention. So after I calmed down, I found some new needles without teeth marks in them and carefully picked up the stitches--that was intense for me--and finished the socks.

So just in case he does this again and I have to start over, I enhanced my sock yarn stash. Oh yes I did! Really I did it before the unraveling incident. Knit Picks was having a fabulous sale on my favorite yarn, Felici. And now there are new colors that I don't have and a new sale. I cannot wait to play/work with the colors that I have and I am not tempted to buy any more for a while. Which one do I pick for my next pair of socks?? Hmmmmmm

Look at that sweet innocent face. There's NO WAY he is at fault. There must be "wool mice" in your house, or the dreaded "yarn bat" or something. Not the dog, never.

It's comforting to see I'm not the only one who will "unknit" an entire project.

As for that darling dog, when ever one of my critters does something similar, I roll up a newspaper and smash myself in the side of the head with it. It's always my fault, as I've left something out and about that shouldn't be, and they are just doing what comes naturally, even though they know better.

Great stash of sock yarn. I resisted the temptation to purchase some (this time), but my sock yarn stash is in three large baskets. I must get busy!

I understand your grief with unknitting the sweater. I did the same thing last year and did not look back. From the yarn, I made some warm mittens, a hat, and a scarf. The last bit is currently being knit into socks.

LOL (although I appreciate your meltdown) over your darn Mr. Tony dog! Sorry to say that 2-1/2 yr. olds usually still have a lot of puppy in them. I know you can't feel it now, but he has a very sweet face. ;)

BAD DOG!! But what a good excuse (like we really NEED another excuse??) to purchase great yarn. I'm like you... LOVE the Felici. That is what is on my needles right now and I love the feel of it. Sorry the sweater was such a bummer... I've never attempted to knit to fit my body. I couldn't fit it when I sewed, and I am certainly not going to put in hours of knitting only to discover that it doesn't fit. I'll just keep whipping out the socks because we don't have much need for scarves or hats in LA.

Ooh, that would be one dog out in the back yard! He would have to stay out for some time too! I'm sorry you had to unknit (I call it tinking -Knit spelled backwards). I am unknitting a sock right now. I had never made the pattern and it is way too big and I won't have enough yarn for both socks if I keep going so....I'm tinking it too. I've never tried the Knitpicks yarn but I've heard lots of good things about them. I'm going to have to give them a try. Thanks for sharing the info.

But he is sooo darn cute! How could you be mad at that adorable face?!?
I think you should make a pair of socks in the yarn at the top of the photo with just a hint of teal running through...in a size 9!

Why was your sweater too big? I've yet to knit a sweater and am putting off starting one because I'm afraid of that happening. I haven't tried the Felici yarn but if it's your favorite, I may have to order some.

wow! I can't believe you can knit a sweater or socks! How cool that must be. I love the photos you added to the top of your blog. It has been awhile since I was on and had to stop by your blog and see what you have been up to.
